Discovering your place of peace

Today, I challenge you to think about a place where you find pure peace.  There are those who may say a room in their house, a church, in the woods or by the water. Webster describes a “scared place” as “a particular place that is considered to have special sacred power which results from the place being storied with human meaning. Even ordinary places can be considered sacred, and this experience may be unique to one individual.  We cannot willfully create it, and its presence is realized when we are passively open to it rather than when we try to seek it out.”

When you passively discover that “scared place” of peace, seek awareness as to when you need it the most.  I also encourage you to plan trips to your sacred place—one might call it a pilgrimage; ie. daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly. It doesn’t matter which time frame you choose—but make a commitment to yourself! Once in your “scared place,” that is where you can clearly search for deeper meaning and your true north. Being of an entrepreneur spirit and mind, it is sometimes difficult for me to be in the moment and make time for that scared place. I have already moved onto the next project—no time to live mindfully! Right? Wrong! I know it all too well.  Being an entrepreneur can be both a blessing and a curse.  When we are open to all ideas and possibilities, we begin to attract the abundance of opportunities, but it can also cause confusion, chaos and self doubt. Today I received my “Daily OM” and it inspired me to write to you.  CLICK HERE to learn more about Daily OM.

In addition to discovering and planning your journey to your sacred place, I also want to challenge you to positive reframe what the Farmer’s Almanac had to say regarding our current weather conditions in Philadelphia.  We were supposed to receive forty inches of snow; instead we are graciously receiving it in rain.  While we can choose to focus on the dreariness of the days yet to come; we can also see the rain as a blessing and an opportunity to cleanse our soul and clear our mind, play indoor games with our children, go see the latest movie or bring home a projector from work (shhh) and play a movie on a big screen (a wall of your home)—heck, invite over the neighbors! Be open to all the possibilities and soon the sun will shine and open even brighter opportunities!

Since we are talking Mother Earth, I also read on my colleague’s e-mail signature yesterday a quote that I hope will inspire you in times of darkness. “When it is dark enough, you can see the stars” -Ralph Waldo Emerson No surprise as to why I might be drawn to the quote.  My book Chasing Stars while Living in the Sunshine has been on my mind 24/7 lately… and with good reason! I am three-quarters finished and am going to meet my deadline of March 20th!  I hope you enjoy it half as much as I am having fun writing it! In addition, if you like my blog, subscribe to it and encourage others to do the same.

Shine on and shine brightly!

Molly
