The Last Sermon Project Launch

Tomorrow is a big day for Legacy Producers!  I am launching The Last Sermon Project at the West Chester United Methodist Church tomorrow on All Saints Day!  For more information on the Project, go to www.thelastsermon.org.  It's purpose is to challenge members of the church to "Rethink Church" (3 min video) and see The Last Sermon Project as a way to reflect on their life so far and what is yet to come by living their legacy EVERY day of the week--not just Sunday!  At the end of The Last Sermon Project workshops, participants can present their Last Sermon and inspire others to live their legacy.  Anyone can be a shepherd or prophet--it's time that we rethink church and reflect on the legacy we have chosen to live.  Contact me to learn how your religious organization can bring The Last Sermon Project to their church or synagogue.

My Journey...

To give you a little insight into my religious journey, I came from a long line of Lutherans.  I was raised Lutheran and as a child my parents always took my sister and I to Sunday School. My parents did everything that they were told to do to be considered "good Christians." However as we got older, we went to church less and less and we always ended up fighting for the bathroom and getting in each others way as we got ready for church.  My sister and I would then find ourselves playing tic-tac-toe and hangman during service, and  we couldn't  wait for the bells to signal church was over. The one thing we did do during service was sing songs.... but that was only because it would be a little too obvious that we weren't paying attention.  Heaven forbid we would shame our parents in church in front of the congregation.

When I went to Gettysburg College in 1992, which just so happened to have a Lutheran affiliation, I may have stepped into the church five times...TOTAL!  However, the summer of my junior year I took a world religion class.  WOW!  The world of possibilities opened up to me and my personal spiritual journey began. My last year of college I was asked to run a program at a church in town for "at risk" children.  I absolutely loved it!  At the time, I was studying to be an elementary education teacher, so it was perfect!

While in college I certainly wasn't an angel by any sense of the word. After graduating from Gettysburg in 1996, I did not continue my "spiritual journey."   After calling off an engagement in 1998 and navigating through a tough breakup in 2001, I knew I had to do some "soul" searching to discover what I wanted out of life.  I found myself praying....and not only in church.  Imagine that!  As a result, I began to attract wonderful things and positive mentors into my life.  I was replacing anything negative with everything positive.   Wow, how mystical, magical it was!  The words karma, law of attraction, gratitude and abundance became a part of my everyday vocabulary.  The world and all it had to offer was opening up to me...  but then, I had a horrible experience with a pastor in my church.   Let's just say her behaviors weren't very "pastor-like"....at least in my book.  I began to become disengaged, and I knew I couldn't let that happen again!

At this point in my life, I was married to a wonderful man and we had a three year old son.  We had recently moved to West Chester and were in need of childcare.  While at swim lessons with my son, a mother suggested the West Chester United Methodist Children Center.  We loved the school and after attending our first service, we knew we found the church that was right for us!  In the spirit of gratitude and abundance, they are the first to experience The Last Sermon Project (CLICK HERE to learn more about the serendipity surrounding The Last Sermon Project).

As a result of my spiritual journey, I've been able to start up three companies while still working fulltime for West Chester University.  I also received my Masters in Training and Organizational Development from West Chester University, Lean Six Sigma Certificate from Villanova University and have started my first book titled, Chasing Stars while Living in the Sunshine.  Because of how I have chosen to live my life, I continue to attract marvelous things and people into my life and am committed to living my legacy and helping others find and share their legacy with others.  The Last Sermon Project is an amazing adventure that stemmed from Legacy Producer's  "Legacy Lecture." Because of my journey, The Last Sermon Project is able to make people "rethink church," breathe life into religious organizations, and help guide people of all ages to live their legacy and make a difference each day!  Contact me to learn more about your amazing adventure just waiting to be had!

Peace and progress!
